I am rookie in watching of American Football. I love this game and I am impressed how well it is covered statistically. In this blog I will try to find laws, patterns of relationship, regularities in the Game. May be my finding will be trivial, but anyway it is very interesting. Final goal is to build a statistical model of the game better than bookmakers have.

A lot of touchdowns does not mean that quarterback is super elite
What does it mean to be in super elite league? For me it means stable long career.
There were only 17 quarterback in Super Bowl era of NFL history who scored more than 200 touchdowns. Five of them are still in the Game (shown by red color on figure below). Okey, actually two of them, because Peyton is injured and Kerry and Donovan are backups.
Let's have a look on next figure. I took QB's, which were drafted after 1965 and have more than 200 touchdowns on November 26th 2011 . Here green are guys who finished in 2000's, magenta -- in 90's and blue -- 80's. Starred ones are in the Hole of Fame. Red ones still can improve their scores, and of course deteriorate some differential ratings.
Funny thing is that only 7 of ever them won Super Bowl (16 of the in total out of 45). I didn't include Drew Bledsoe to this list because he watched from the bench Super-Bowl which is in his records.
